OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Due to an expanding workload, we require a senior transport planner to join our Development Planning team. The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in not only fulfilling existing client requirements, but also in expanding the Development Planning team to accommodate identified, and as yet unidentified, additional service demand.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on a variety of projects, primarily focussed upon the provision of transport/highways advice to private sector clients throughout the development process. You will be involved in projects from the outset and will take an active role in engaging directly with clients and other relevant stakeholders.
With a sound understanding of the development process you will be able to provide clients with advice from initial site appraisals, through to the preparation and agreement of relevant planning documents.
KEY SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
You will have a proven track record of leading, through direct client engagement, on the delivery of a wide variety of projects.
Educated to degree level, you will have experience in scoping, preparing and agreeing relevant planning documents, likely to include transport assessments and transport statements. You will have detailed knowledge of current and emerging national and regional transport policies and guidance.
Ideally you should have knowledge of junction design and junction analysis software, and a working knowledge of trip generation databases. More importantly however you will have a sound understanding of the planning process and be competent in the preparation of planning documents.
You will have proven experience of representing not only the organisation, but also the client. This will extend to representation at client project meetings, planning committees, and stakeholder consultations.
You will be an organised and motivated individual who enjoys challenges and takes pride in your work. We are looking for an individual with initiative, someone who can take charge of allocated projects and who works well in team scenarios contributing innovative ideas, practical solutions and adding value.
Whilst initially advertised as a 6 month part time contract, the scope of the role (both short and long term) will largely depend on your own ability to expand the role from within an already successful and supportive team.
