Travel Plan Surveys

Travel SurveyThe first step towards developing the most appropriate package of measures for a travel plan is to obtain accurate information on travel patterns and issues. This requires more than simple counts of traffic and pedestrian flows, parked cars or cycles in shelters. To properly understand how and why people travel in the way they do requires a survey of people, their existing travel habits and their attitudes toward travel.

Having established this baseline travel data it is then essential that changes and trends are identified if the travel plan is to be successfully monitored and managed on an ongoing basis. Knowing why people do or don’t use certain methods of transport provides a travel plan coordinator with the information they need to plan future measures.

TPS have experience of undertaking all aspects of travel surveys/monitoring projects, from initial survey design, through to implementation and analysis.
